Charles Jia Professor, Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry

Professor Jia’s research interests include pollution abatement technologies, secondary materials and by-product utilization, environmental applications of inorganic sulphur chemistry, and modelling the fate and transport of pollutants in the environment. His research group develops technologies that use industrial waste or byproducts to remove heavy metals or organic compounds from industrial process water. Current projects aim at the utilization of oil sands petroleum coke for the production of high performance, low cost, porous carbon materials that can be used for industrial water treatment.
