Radhakrishnan Mahadevan Professor, Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry

Professor Mahadevan brings essential expertise in the emerging field of systems biology and constraint-based models of metabolic networks. He is a pioneer in this new computational field that has arisen from a need to make sense of the vast amount of genomic information now available. His research interests include systems analysis, engineering and control of biological processes, and genome-scale models of cellular processes. Using computational and experimental methods, Professor Mahadevan was the first to model the unique metabolism of Geobacter sulfurreducens, an anaerobic metal-reducing bacterium with applications in bioremediation of toxic metals and bioelectricity generation.
