Professor Thorpe and his Surface Engineering & Electrochemistry (SEE) Group are developing novel catalysts using nanomaterial chemistries and fabricating unique nanostructures to produce clean hydrogen fuel through the electrolysis of water. The same technique can also be applied to treat waste water while producing clean combustible fuels that can be used in stationary power and transportation, simultaneously solving both energy and environmental issues on a global level.
