Donald Kirk Professor, Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry

Professor Kirk is interested in interfacial reactions and the effect of surface properties, particularly in interaction with aqueous systems. These interactions can be manipulated using electrochemical techniques and through the modification of surface structures. His research group is currently developing electrochemical techniques for the decontamination of groundwater, destruction of synthetic organic compounds in wastewater, and separation and recovery of salts from wastewater.
