Mohammed Basheer Assistant Professor, Department of Civil & Mineral Engineering

Professor Basheer’s research is on the planning and management of Hydrology and Water Resource Systems.

His work covers hydropower planning and operations, the water-energy-food nexus, water resources economics, and coupled human-water systems. He uses interdisciplinary approaches to help plan sustainable water infrastructure, considering engineering and socio-economic dimensions while adapting to future uncertainties such as climate change.

Prof Basheer and his group develop analytical frameworks for designing interventions in water resource and hydrology systems using state-of-the-art simulation approaches coupled with artificial intelligence techniques. His research contributes to several domestic and international sustainability goals, including Zero Hunger, Clean Water and Sanitation, Affordable and Clean Energy, Reduced Inequalities, and Climate Action.
